Community Investments Program (CIP) Grants

Do you ever wonder what our donations to the Elks National Foundation do for us?

The mission of the Elks National Foundation is to help Elks build stronger communities. We fulfill this pledge by investing in communities where Elks live and work.

This is no exception here in our community.  Last year, we as a Lodge contributed $4,095 to the ENF.  This year so far we have contributed $3,628.  What has come back to our area is $8,000.00!

Last spring, we received a $2,000 Gratitude grant that was used to help support Back Pack Pals.  This is a local program that provides food to under privileged children to eat on weekends.

Most recently, we received $2,500.00 with the Promise grant.  As you may have heard, we joined a youth committee and purchased shoes for kids here in Lee County.  In addition we provided $1,200.00 of that grant to purchase shoes for high school athletes that were unable to buy the necessary cleats or running shoes for football and track.

The Sanford Elks Shoe Project is winding down but we expect between 50 and 60 children will have been served right here in Lee County by your Sanford Elks Lodge!

Yet to come is the Beacon Grant.  This along with a one-time Anniversary Grant will provide us with $3,500.00 which we plan to use to help support our local fire departments in their 3 alarm toy drive for the NC Children’s Burn Center.

As a lodge, we will continue our annual toy drive but this year we will add a twist.  In years past we have successfully collected toys for younger kids.  This grant will be used to purchase Christmas gifts for older kids and teenagers.  This is an area that has been overlooked in the past.

For more information on how you can contribute to the ENF, please contact Steve Johnson who is our ENF Chairman.  For more information on our grants or how you can help on any of these worthwhile committees, please contact Mike McGraw.

Thank You,
Mike McGraw, PER
